Intelligence tests of today do not measure the intelligence quotient but they give the equivalent IQ based on their intelligence test result. IQ is just an integer that may lie between 60 and 140, and can be below 60 or above 140 for a very small percentage of the population. If you do not know what this value means, just the number is useless. Many people do not understand the significance of the IQ test score and the limitations of its use. What is IQ Score?
IQ score is an indicator of a person’s intelligence. There are various tests to measure the IQ score of a person. The intelligence of a population is distributed according to a normal distribution. The average value is considered as 100. Half of the population have their IQ between 90 and 100. As the normal distribution curve is symmetric one quarter of the population have their IQ between 100 and 115 while one quarter of the population have their IQ between 90 and 100. Again one quarter of population have their IQ below 90 while the balance quarter have their IQ higher than 110.
